Terms
Updated 25 September 2026
The short version
- You must be 18 or over and of sound mind. That is the only requirement.
- Beyond that you are an adult. What you put on your profile, who you trust, and where you take it, is your call and your responsibility.
- A ticket is for you, at one night. Speed dating tickets are not refundable.
- Be decent to people. We will remove anyone who is not, and keep the ticket money.
- We facilitate the meet-up. Nothing else. What happens after that is between you.
Who we are, and what this covers
1sts (Firsts Events) is run by Gemini Global LLC in Dallas, Texas. These terms cover this website, the tickets you buy on it, and the nights themselves. By making an account or buying a ticket you are agreeing to them, and to our privacy policy and refund policy, which are part of these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Your account
You have to be 18 or over and of sound mind. That is the only requirement, and we take you at your word on it.
Everything else on your profile is yours to decide. The name on your account is whatever you want to be called on the night. The age you show is up to you as well: we do not check it, and nobody else here does either, so treat every age you see the way you would treat one told to you across a bar. When you choose whether you are a man or a woman, that is simply the side of the table you will be seated on at speed dating, so choose the one that puts you opposite the people you came to meet.
One account per person, and it is yours alone: do not forward a sign-in link, and do not let anyone else use your account.
Tickets
A ticket is for one named person at one specific night, and it is tied to your account. It cannot be transferred. The price is shown on each night before you buy. Payment is taken by Square; we never see your card details. A ticket gets you into the night, onto the list for it, and your results afterwards.
Refunds are covered by the refund policy. In short: speed dating tickets are not refundable, because we book equal numbers of men and women and a seat handed back cannot be filled. Leaving a night before the doors open frees your place for someone else and keeps the ticket on your account for that night. If we cancel a night, you get a full refund without asking.
The guest list and your picks
From 10 minutes before a night starts, the other people on the list see your first name, age, bio, photos and table number, as described in the privacy policy. By joining a night you agree to that.
After the night you say who you would see again. If you and another person pick each other, you each get the other’s email address, as described in the privacy policy. In every other case nothing is shared. Picks lock at midnight on the night of the event and results go out straight after. Results are final. We do not promise you will be picked by anyone, and we are not a matchmaking service: we put people in a room and pass on who chose each other.
At the night
Turn up on time, go to your table if you have one, and type the check-in code if the host gives you one. The venue’s own rules apply, including on drinking age and behaviour, and the venue can ask anyone to leave.
Be decent. We can ask you to leave, and can close your account, if you harass, intimidate, pester or touch someone who does not want it, turn up drunk, photograph or record people without their clear agreement, or otherwise make people uncomfortable. That decision is the host’s, on the night, and it is final. If you are asked to leave for any of those reasons there is no refund.
Photos and bio
Photos have to be of you, and recent enough to recognise you by. No one else’s face, nothing explicit, nothing that is not yours to use. The same goes for the bio. You keep ownership of anything you upload; you let us show it to the people on your night, which is the only thing we do with it. We can take down anything that breaks these rules without telling you first.
Safety
We check nothing about anyone. Not names, not ages, not photos, not jobs, not backgrounds. We put adults in a room together, and being an adult means doing your own due diligence: on what someone tells you about themselves, on how far you take things and how fast, and on where you choose to meet. Our nights are in public venues, and we suggest keeping first meetings afterwards public too. If anything at a night or afterwards worries you, tell us at hello@1sts.events; we take it seriously and we will act on it.
When nights change
Now and then a venue falls through or a time has to move. If that happens we will email everyone on the list. If we cancel a night outright, everyone gets a full refund. If we move it and you cannot make the new time, see the refund policy. We are not responsible for what you spend getting to a night: drinks, food, parking, travel, babysitters.
Our responsibility, and its limits
We facilitate the meet-up. Nothing else. Think of us the way you would think of the bar you met someone in: we provide the room and the introduction, and that is where our part ends. We do not vouch for anything anyone says about themselves, and we are not responsible for it. What happens between you and anyone you meet here, on the night or at any point afterwards, is between the two of you, and we are not part of it, any more than the bar would be. As far as Texas law allows, we are not responsible for that, for the venue, for anything that goes wrong with Square, Cloudflare or the internet, or for any indirect loss. If a court ever finds we owe you something, the most it can be is what you paid for the ticket in question. Nothing in these terms takes away a right the law says we cannot take away.
Ending things
You can stop using the site whenever you like, and can ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@1sts.events. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and can refuse tickets to anyone we have asked to leave before.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms we will update the date at the top. If the change matters, we will email everyone with an account before it takes effect. Buying a ticket after a change means you accept it.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of Texas, and any dispute about them is to be dealt with in the courts of Dallas County, Texas. We would much rather sort things out by email first, and we will always try.
